This measures your simple visual reaction time: how fast you perceive a change and move in response. The field stays red, then flips to green after a random delay so you can't anticipate it, and we time the gap until you tap. Five valid trials run, tap too early and the trial resets, and your slowest is dropped before averaging.
Typical simple visual reaction time on a screen is roughly 250 to 350 milliseconds; anything under about 200 usually means you jumped the gun. Your display's refresh rate and input lag add a small fixed delay, so a browser reads about 20 to 50 ms slower than a lab button — which is why the honest use of this number is comparing it against your own runs, not other people or devices. It's a fun perception-and-motor measure, not a medical or fitness assessment.
